Summer in the Air

It's been quite a while since I last blogged, so me thinks tis necessary to catch up on all that has occurred in the past few months. Here's a run down:

-March: I officially became a member of a multicultural sorority on campus...Yay!

-April: Experienced my first fire alarm at 1:00 A.M., b/c someone pulled the alarm as a joke...but I'm glad I wasn't sleeping at the time.
-I got to bring my tutee to school over the weekend and give her a tour + ice cream :). I also finished up with tutoring this month.
-Got to see my sister get baptized and learn of the amazing things she has planned (with much prayer) for the next semester.
-Essentially bought out the on campus health food store w/ my friend Jenn. Among our conquests were frozen burritos, tea, and ice cream. I love how all of our escapades involve food. We always have to take a food break when studying and look where this one took us. I suppose it is better than what we have eaten in past study sessions (i.e. dougnut gorging and burnt popcorn munching)
-Made it through finals week. Praise the Lord!
-Moved out of my dorm room and said goodbye to roomate.
-Finished my 1st year in college!

-May: Back at home now and feeling like an only child
-I've been doing some crafts --I hand dyed some fabric to make a scarf with.
-I've got a million other projects I want to work on, but I'm trying to finish one at a time.
-NBA finals- Cleveland is out :(
-Graduation weekend is approaching

A Lovely Weekend!

What a relaxing and fun filled weekend! On Friday night I went with my roomate to this event on campus put on by the Women's Center- A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer. It was so powerful, and eye-opening. Afterwards, I we met up with my friend Laura and Kayla to go see Valentine's Day at the movies. We had to wait for over an hour to finally see it, but it was well worth it. This movie was really sweet... it made me smile :) Then on Saturday my parents made a visit to come see me. They took me out to eat at Sitar, my most favorite Indian restaurant, and then we went shopping for winter gloves for me b/c my hands have been freezing over the past few weeks. brrr! I bid them farewell that night and then my roomate and I went ice skating at the sports complex across the street, which I didn't know existed. This was so much fun. It brought back a ton of memories as well (I used to be obsessed with ice skating and even took lessons for a while). Awww... the days my my youth! Then on Sunday: V-day, I made sure to wear my pink and went to a special Valentine's Day Brunch at one of our dining halls. I was so full after that! But all is well b/c I have plans to do kickboxing tonight with some friends :) I can't wait. Happy Valentine's Day!

A Little R&R

I have been having such a wonderful break from my hectic college life. Plus it's always wonderful to be back home with the folks. God has really blessed me. I am so thankful for my loving family. Being away from home it is so easy to lose sight of this blessing and so many more. I had a bit of a wake up to this fact a few days a go. I watched the documentary God Grew Tired of Us. It was soooo good and I recommend that everyone see it. It really made me think about American society and how it is often perceived by foreigners (like the Lost Boys). I have been really blessed to get some rest this break too. I think I have slept until like 11 or noon every day of this vacation... I'm not gonna lie, it has been great. I do feel the need for structure again though and I thank the Lord for this new year, a time to start afresh and try new things.
A few of the things I would hope to fulfill this 2010 year:
1. Grow in my relationship with God
2. Grow in my relationship with my parents
3. Read my Bible mucho más
4. Learn to sew for reals
5. Make more friendships
6. Get a bit more organized
7. Take a genuine interest in topics I study in class
8. Go rock climbing, hiking, and/or backpacking
9. Laugh a lot a lot
10. Get to know one professor well.
